SK Energy on Wednesday said it has successfully tapped the 15-1/05 oil field in Vietnam, its second fruitful oil field there following the 15-1.
Korea's leading refiner has a 25 percent stake in the offshore field, located some 180 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The remainder is owned by Petrovietnam Exploration Production, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese state oil company (40 percent), and France's Total (35 percent).
SK Energy has been exploring the field after signing a contract in February 2007 and began drilling in August. Recently it produced 4,300 barrels of crude oil per day from the field. The total size of the oil deposits has not been confirmed yet.
